It arrived in the United States from England in the nineteenth century as a swindler's betting game called banco, and the crooked gambling parlours of the era became so notorious that police anti-fraud units are still nicknamed "bunco squads" to this day. The game later shed its shady reputation completely and was reborn as a wholesome parlour pastime.
In its modern form Bunco is one of America's most popular social dice games, classically played by twelve players seated at three tables of four, with partners rotating between rounds and prizes for the most Buncos of the night. Whole neighbourhood leagues meet monthly to play. This solo version distils the same dice-chasing rhythm into a game you can finish in a couple of minutes.

Your turn ends when a roll scores nothing.
