The game's true origin is a nice piece of trivia: it was created in Germany in 1892 as Stern-Halma, a star-shaped variant of the older American game Halma, which is played on a square board. The "Chinese" branding was invented in 1928 by American publishers riding the era's craze for mahjong — pure marketing, but the name stuck. Under any label, the six-pointed star and its cascading marble hops have kept the game on family shelves for well over a century.
What gives Chinese Checkers lasting bite is that nothing is ever blocked off or captured: every marble on the board, friend or foe, is a potential stepping stone. Expert play revolves around building ladders — long chains of marbles spaced so that one piece can hop the entire length of the board in a single spectacular turn.

Tap one of your marbles to select it — the legal destinations light up green. Tap a green hole to move. A marble can step to any adjacent empty hole, or jump over a single neighbouring marble (yours or an opponent's) into the empty hole beyond. Jumps can be chained into long combinations across the whole board in a single turn.
There is no points score — Chinese Checkers is a pure race, and the first player to fill the opposite triangle wins. Pick Easy, Medium or Hard to change the number of rival AI players.
Lay your marbles out as a chain of stepping stones so a trailing marble can hop all the way across in one move. Watch for opponents borrowing your marbles as jump pivots, and keep your formation compact to avoid stranding a straggler.
Can you jump over more than one marble at a time?
Each single hop crosses exactly one adjacent marble into the empty hole directly beyond it, but hops can be chained together, so one turn can carry a marble across most of the board.
Are marbles captured in Chinese Checkers?
No — nothing is ever captured or removed. Marbles you jump over stay where they are; the game is a pure race to the opposite triangle.
