Bridges, also known as Hashiwokakero or simply Hashi, is a free online logic puzzle where you connect numbered islands with bridges. Each island shows a number telling you exactly how many bridges must link to it. Play unlimited puzzles in your browser with no download and no sign-up.
It is a pure deduction puzzle in the spirit of Sudoku and Nonograms: no guessing required, just careful logic. Easy, Medium and Hard puzzles use larger grids with more islands and trickier connections, so there is always a fresh challenge.
Hashiwokakero — Japanese for build bridges! — was popularised by Nikoli, the Tokyo puzzle publisher that also gave Sudoku its modern form, and first appeared in its magazine in 1990. Beneath the island theme sits a neat piece of graph theory: you are constructing a connected graph whose vertices have fixed degrees, which is why every well-made Hashi puzzle can be solved by pure deduction without a single guess.
Draw bridges between the islands so that every island has exactly the number of bridges shown on it, all bridges are straight, and the whole network is connected into one single group.
Click or tap and drag between two islands to draw a bridge; do it again to make it a double bridge, and once more to remove it. Bridges run only horizontally or vertically, cannot cross each other, and at most two can connect the same pair of islands.
There is no point score — a puzzle is solved when every island's bridge count is satisfied and all islands are joined into a single connected network. Solve it using logic alone, with no crossing or stranded bridges.
Start with islands that almost force a solution, such as a 1 in a corner or an island whose required bridges equal its available directions. An island marked 4 in a corner, for example, must use two bridges in each available direction. Work outward from these certainties and avoid splitting the map into isolated groups.

Can bridges cross?
No. Bridges are straight horizontal or vertical lines and may never cross another bridge.
